The Makerspace provides hands-on access to tools and technology for creative projects, prototyping, fabrication, and digital design. Regardless of your skill level, this is your space to explore, build, and innovate.

Capabilities include:

3D printing and scanning
- Laser cutting and engraving
- Vinyl cutting and digital design
- CNC and fabrication tools
- Electronics and robotics
- Woodworking and basic metalworking
- High-performance computers with design software

After completing the Introduction to Makerspaces training course, you'll be added to this group page and receive your first digital badge!

Taking the paid course includes your first month of Makerspace membership, giving you access to 3D printers, basic hand and power tools, and electronics equipment. After completing the course, you'll be eligible to enroll in additional equipment training for specialized technologies, including laser cutters, the vinyl printer/cutter, and more. For each additional training you complete, you'll receive a digital badge on your Flock profile.

Walk-ins are welcome during open lab hours, and you can make appointments to come in outside of those hours.

The Models of Excellence Program was established at the College of Southern Maryland in September 2013, as a college-wide initiative to improve the recruitment, success, retention, graduation, and transfer rates of students who enter as first-time, full- or part-time students at the college. The program is designed to empower students to meet their academic and professional goals and provide an array of services meant to increase student engagement, as well as encourage community-building among all participants. By partnering with offices throughout Student Excellence and Success and Academic Affairs, the program helps students map out a route to reach their academic, personal, and professional goals; develop leadership skills; and achieve educational success.
